Love, Lies, and Breakfast at Tiffany's by Julie Wright, Blog Tour

Book Summary:

The Lie
Women in Hollywood are just pretty faces. But Silvia Bradshaw knows that’s a lie, and she’s ready to be treated as an equal and prove her worth as one of Hollywood’s newest film editors.

The Love
She and Ben Mason had worked together as editors before Silvia got her big break, so he’s the perfect person to ask for feedback on her first major film. But even as their friendship begins to blossom into something more, a lawsuit surfaces, jeopardizing both Ben and Silvia’s jobs—as well as their fledgling romance. Audrey Hepburn once said: “The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters.” Silvia agrees. Or she used to. It’s one thing to risk her job and her heart, but can she really risk Ben’s, too? Does she have the right to make decisions for her own happiness when they affect so many other people?

The Breakfast
With everything to lose, Silvia meets Ben for breakfast at his favorite diner, Tiffany’s, for one last conversation before the credits roll on true love.

My Review:

I don't know a ton about Audrey Hepburn or her movies, but reading this book definitely made me want to learn more about the Hollywood legend. I really loved Silvia as a main character. Not only was she strong and beautiful, but she was flawed (aren't we all, this made me totally relate to her), and she always saw the positive in people. I loved that, I want to be like that! Anyway, Silvia is this amazing film editor and she works her booty off on this movie and she thinks she may be falling for her old co-worker Ben. What really struck me was that Silvia took her time figuring out how she felt and too often in books, the love part is so rushed. It was nice to read a book where a character takes their time deciding how they do or do not feel. Ben was an awesome leading man; patient, kind, giving, and those eyes! Every female was falling and swooning over those eyes! This book was pretty dang awesome, it had so many moving parts; not just Hollywood, but love life, family life, friends, and trying to figure out how it all should work together.

The Truth About Miss Ashbourne by Joanna Barker, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Book Summary:

Governess Juliana Ashbourne has dreams reaching far beyond the confines of her current position, hoping to someday establish her own school for girls. When she inherits a fortune from her late grandfather, she is shocked to learn that “someday” may soon be within reach. However, there is one condition: she must spend a month at the estate of Havenfield—with the very family who disowned her mother. Intent on securing the money she needs to start her school, Juliana accepts the invitation, vowing to guard her heart against those who shunned her all her life. But Havenfield is far from what she expects. She discovers a grandmother seeking forgiveness, a cold and disapproving aunt, and a painfully shy cousin. And then there is Mr. William Rowley. Though the heir to the estate is a merciless tease, Juliana finds in him a friend and confidant—and perhaps something more. As she struggles to make sense of her new place in the world, her stubborn independence clashes with a yearning to belong and the even more confusing desires of her heart.

My Review:

This book was hands down fantastic! I read quite a bit of regency novels and this one was so unique, different, and captivating from the very start. The story pulled me in and I refused to stop reading, I had to know what would become of Juliana and her dream of an all girls' school. Would her family love and accept her? Would she let her guard down and love and accept them? Then there was the matter of Mr. Rowley...she always seemed to show her worst side when she was around him! I felt so much honesty and a gamut of emotions from Juliana. I felt like I was living it all with her! Debut author Joanna Barker has hit this one out of the park, so hurry up and read it already!

The Gem Thief by Sian Ann Bessey, Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book Summary:

Gracie Miller is a small-town girl who has landed her dream job in New York City. As jewelry designer for one of the most prestigious jewelers in the world, she completed a particularly stunning piece, a custom setting for a large pink diamond. But when her billionaire client Mrs. Katsaros comes to repair a minor issue with the setting, Gracie is horrified to realize it is not the ring she created. Someone has forged her design, and the priceless diamond is gone.

Mrs. Katsaros has no desire to bring media attention to the jewelry heist, so she recruits her nephew, Quinn, and his FBI agent friend, Steve, to do some sleuthing off the record. When they discover that the missing ring is just one of many forgeries in the widow's collection, they look to Gracie for help. They need her to act the part of Quinn's fiancĂ©e. From the lights of New York to the shimmering islands of the Mediterranean, Gracie is swept into a thrilling hunt. But amid the search for the elusive thief, she and Quinn find themselves increasingly distracted by their growing feelings for each other. What neither realizes is how close the danger lies and how serious the vendetta is—because, apparently, it is worth killing for.

My Review:

This story drew me in immediately and didn't let me go until the very end! I read it in a day and when I had to put it down for "real life" it absolutely tortured me waiting to find out what would happen next! Gracie was so sweet, kind, and beautiful and Quinn was every girl's dream if he could just speak up and say what he really felt! Aunt dorcas was one of my favorite characters and I felt like she was the grandma everyone wants in their life. The lingering mystery of who the jewel thief was completely kept me on my toes and made for one fantastic story! Bessey weaves mystery, beautiful jewels, who dunnit, and a love story all in one great novel!

Wedding Belles by Melanie Jacobson, Jennie Proctor, Becca Wilhite and Brittany Larsen, New Release & Review!

Book Summary:

Harper is an event planner with dreams of taking over the Charleston wedding scene . . . until she meets the biggest Bridezilla of her career. She needs the job, but the only way to keep it is to hire a temperamental chef with big dreams of his own.

Janie is a classical cellist booked to play a posh Charleston wedding. She’s excited to have the lucrative gig until the groom’s brother, Emmett, shows up and asks her to help him play a song he wrote for the happy couple. The only trouble? Emmett is her unrequited high school crush.

Lily has been Dahlia's best friend, partner-in-crime, and now her maid of honor . . . until suddenly there's no wedding, and she's left to clean up Dahlia's biggest mess of all. She's been friends with Deacon, the jilted groom, for just as long, and it's up to her rescue him after Hurricane Dahlia blows through.

Sutton is a photographer running from her past. Only the pleas from her best friend to photograph her wedding could bring Sutton back to Charleston. Her plan is to get in and get out before her ex knows she and their daughter are in town. At least it’s the plan until she meets Max, who turns out to be the safe place she didn’t know she was looking for.

Can each of these couples trust their growing chemistry, or are they on the verge of new disasters?

My Review:

So, let's talk about a novel in four parts...I was like, what the heck? How is this going to shake out with four parts, four authors...can this be successful and even somewhat cohesive? You guys! It was AH-mazing! Each part was one couple's story yet each story interlocked with the entire whole of the novel! How these four authors managed to pull this off, I will never know! But what I do know is that each part was engaging, interesting, and easy to read. Each part was connected to each other and the four parts made one beautiful interlocking story. As a reader I loved that I got to read four different stories that all made up one big story. For me it was a huge bonus...it was like extra helpings of dessert, you can never get enough! If you like easy reading, romance, chick lit, and all of that beautiful stuff...then you will definitely love Wedding Belles and this reader highly recommends it!
