Tripwire by Traci Hunter Abramson, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Book Summary:

Jane Napierski is back at work at the job she loves—being a personal assistant to her friend Sienna Blake, a rising star actress. The duo is on location in Virginia Beach to film Sienna’s new TV series, along with costar Reed Forrester—the man with whom the world thinks Sienna is in love. Wrong.

Sienna’s heart actually belongs to her fiancĂ©, Craig, a Navy Seal with the Saint Squad. Craig must fly under the radar if he is to keep Sienna safe from his world of terrorists and toxic bombs. And Reed has no problem pretending to date his old friend Sienna simply because it means he can spend time learning more about Jane. Making a TV series is grueling work but not nearly as difficult as the treacherous adventure that is about to begin with a simple photo taken in the wrong place at the wrong time—an image worth killing for.

When Craig returns to the United States to spend time with Sienna, he’s not expecting to spend that time protecting her and Jane. Frightening incidents targeting the two women rapidly escalate, and as Craig and his Saint Squad investigate a tangled conspiracy, they find themselves tracking, here at home, the terrorists they have searched for across the globe. But can they shut the terrorists down in time to save Jane, Reed, and Sienna?

My Review:

Abramson has done it again! The Saint Sqaud returns for another romance full of heart-pounding and action-packed moments! When Jane and Sienna accidentally take a picture with known terrorists in the background they quickly put a target on their backs, unbenownst to them! While Jane and Sienna do their best to figure out who is after them and why, a little help from Craig, Sienna's fiance and the Saint Squad is called in. Meanwhile Jane is falling in love with Reed, the actor that Sienna stars with in this new TV series. So many things happening, so little time to solve them... what will happen? Abramson has produced another winner with this next installment in the Saint Squad Series!

Check Me Out by Becca Wihite, Book Review

Book Summary:

Greta loves her job as assistant librarian. She loves her best friend, Will, the high school civics teacher and debate coach. She even loves her mother despite her obvious disappointment that Greta is still single.

Then she meets Mac in the poetry section of the library, and she is smitten. Mac is heart-stoppingly gorgeous and showers her with affection, poetic text messages, and free hot chocolate at the local café where he works. The only problem is that he seems to be a different person in his texts than in his face-to-face conversation.

When the Franklin Library is threatened with closure, Greta leaps into action. She arranges for a "battle of the bands" book jam, hosts a book signing by a famous author, and finally, stages a protest that raises more than a few eyebrows.

Through it all, she slowly realizes that it is Will, not Mac, who she turns to for support and encouragement. Mac has the looks; Will has the heart. How can she choose between them?

Check Me Out is a contemporary romance--with just a hint of Cyrano de Bergerac--that reminds us that it is what's on the inside that matters most.

My Review:

I love, love, love LOVED this book! Did I mention that I loved it? First of all, Greta is just great, she loves books, works in the library and which one of us book nerds doesn't relate to that or desperately wants to work in a library ourselves? So Greta? She is AWESOME!!! And let's talk about her amazing and super hot best friend Will! Holy heck, Will is awesomeness and probably the best friend anyone could ever ask for! He was always there for Greta, always helping, always there! He was her rock and her constant! And he sent her a perfect guy for her birthday? Seriously, this cannot be real folks! Who does that? Anyhow, the story definitely has more depth than just the best friend/boyfriend/Greta trio. There is all of the library possibly shutting down issues and what Greta can do to try to save it! You do not want to miss out on this story, you NEED to read it! I loved every second and I am sure you will too!

My Dearest Enemy by Jennifer Moore, Blog Tour & Giveaway

Book Summary:

Struggling alone on the family farm, Abigail Tidwell knows exactly who to blame for her hardships: the Americans. If it weren’t for their part in the war, her father and brothers would be home rather than fighting abroad. But no amount of antipathy could have prepared her for the shocking sight of a wounded American soldier on her property, a man in dire need of her help. Grudgingly, Abigail tends to the soldier’s injuries and anticipates the satisfaction of turning him over to the authorities once he is healed. But fate has other plans. Captain Emmett Prescott remembers little of the ambush on his men by a group of Shawnee Indians and even less about how he arrived in the unfamiliar barn.

After being nursed back to health by beautiful, if reluctant, Abigail, Emmett would do anything to save the men he left behind—including forcibly enlisting Abigail’s help. Soon, Abigail finds herself caught between two countries at war. And as her attraction for Emmett grows, her conflicted heart engages in its own silent battle. But when she is accused of treason for her actions, her survival rests in the hands of the very man she once considered her enemy.

My Review:

Moore wastes no time in introducing her main characters and jumping right into the story! Abigail is alone on her family farm while her father and brother are away fighting. And she cannot help but blame the Americans! So when she finds a wounded American soldier in her barn she finds herself in quite the conundrum! What should she do with him? The most distressing part is the fact that he is an American! Her plan for him to heal and then for her to turn him over to authorities doesn't go quite how she thought. You must read it yourself to learn all of the complexities of the relationship and the ups and downs of her life! It was a nice change to read a book from the early 1800s set in a different country than England and to have the war aspect tied into it. I haven't read many books based during the War of 1812, it was a nice change of pace!

My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson

For as long as Prudence can remember, it has been understood that her sister will one day wed the eldest son of their nearest neighbor. Such an alliance will benefit both families and bring a great deal of joy to all parents involved. Unfortunately, Prudence has never been able to feel as joyful. She believes her sister is mad to consider marrying a man she hardly knows, even if he will one day make her a countess. Titles and wealth shouldn't factor into matters of the heart, and as an aspiring romance novelist, Prudence cannot fathom how anyone could even think of settling for less than love. She certainly wouldn’t, and she doesn't want her sister to either. Unable to stand by and do nothing, Prudence sets out to help the awkward couple discover the best in each other with the hope that they will eventually find love. What she neglected to foresee, however, was the possibility that she might fall in love with Lord Knave herself.

My Review:

This book swept me away and didn't let me go until I had read the very last word! I felt so much a part of Prudence's world, it was like I was watching it play out in real time. Prudence was so sweet and kind, she just wanted to write a great story and along the way she needed to do her own research! Who knew she could misunderstand a situation completely, make an unexpected friend and confidant and maybe even fall in love along the way? She wanted so much to help her sister and do right by her family at the same time. Yet she yearned to be true to who she was! I connected to this story in a way I wasn't expecting. You will laugh and sigh right along with Prudence as she finds her true self in My Sister's Intended!

Happy Reading!!!

Excerpt

When Prudence lifted her eyes to his again, they sparkled with a challenge. “I was going to save this question until later so as not to shock you from the get-go, but I really do need to know . . . What does it feel like to kiss a woman?”
A large lump formed in Brand’s throat, and his mouth went dry. What the deuce? She had promised not to ask questions that would make him uncomfortable, but already he wanted to flee like a frightened kitten. How could he possibly explain how it felt to kiss a woman?
Brand searched his mind for a way to avoid answering until he heard a snicker escape her lips. She was laughing at him. Him! Hildebrand Ethan Cannon, Viscount Knave—a man at least eight years her senior and a great deal higher in social standing.
Unbelievable.
“You are teasing me,” he said, hoping it was true. If she’d posed the question to make him squirm—and perhaps make him more inclined to answer her other questions—then she wouldn’t be expecting an answer.
She shook her head, still smiling. “I’m afraid not, my lord, although I did find the look of terror on your face vastly amusing.”
“I’m glad I could entertain you.”
“I hope you will be equally glad to instruct me on a few things as well. The first scene in my book will include a kiss, and I have no idea how to describe the experience. Do a woman’s lips feel warm or soft or even moist? Would your pulse quicken? Aside from touch, what other senses are engaged? How would it make you feel and what would you notice when you held a woman in your arms?”
If she thought he’d appeared terror-stricken before, there would be no word for how he looked now. Did she earnestly expect him to answer such questions? Surely even she knew how inappropriate it would be to discuss such things, her being an innocent.
“I cannot say,” he finally muttered.
Her brow puckered in confusion. “Have you never kissed a woman, my lord?”
Brand was sorely tempted to lie and say he had not, but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. Any man of six-and-twenty who had never experienced a kiss would be laughed out of his manhood. Women were expected to remain innocent until married. Men were not.
“Yes, I have kissed a woman,” he finally admitted, “but I have no intention of discussing any of the details with you.”
“Why not?” she asked, her large brown eyes blinking at him curiously. “Would you rather I invent the information?”
“Yes.”
She obviously didn’t appreciate his retort because she scowled. “Can you not tell me at least a little?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because a kiss could never be described with any sort of accuracy, at least not by me. It involves too many feelings and sensations and complexities of thought. If you wish to know what a kiss feels like, you’ll have to experience it for yourself.”
Too late, Brand realized his mistake. Her expression became contemplative, as though she was actually considering doing just that. Good gads, had he really just encouraged an innocent young woman to go hunting for a kiss? Who would she ask? A groom? Stablehand? The next peddler that came to town?
“I think you are right,” she said at last. “I really must experience a kiss for myself if I am to describe it with any sort of accuracy.” She blinked up at him with that innocent expression again. “Will you kiss me Lord Knave? No, how silly of me. You are to marry my sister, so that would never do.” She pursed her lips for a moment before musing, “Perhaps one of the footmen would be kind enough to show me how it’s done.”
Kind enough? Brand could think of a great many reasons a footman would comply with such a request, and kindness did not factor into any of them. Brand would kiss her himself before he allowed a footman near her.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose, feeling a headache coming on. “Perhaps I can try to explain what it feels like after all.” Better that than having her chase after a footman.
“But you only just said you couldn’t do it justice,” she pointed out. “I realize I sound dreadfully forward, but I really must know, and experience is the best teacher, is it not?”
“No, it isn’t,” he lied. “And you are not going to kiss a footman.”
“Then who? Felix or Lionel, perhaps? I’m fairly certain I can convince one of them to do it, if given the opportunity. The question is how to go about it?”
It was plain to see by the firm set of her jaw that she would not rest until she had experienced a kiss of her own. She didn’t seem to care who did the deed, only that the man did a thorough job of it. A quick peck on the lips wouldn’t satisfy her curiosities.
“Perhaps I could send a note to Felix and ask him to call on me,” she continued to muse. “We could take a stroll through the maze in the gardens. There is a hidden alcove on the south side, which could be quite perfect. We would have to evade Ruth, obviously, but—”
“Devil take it,” Brand growled as he pulled her to him. Her quick intake of breath was the only sound she made before his mouth covered hers.

Love's Bloom by Rosemary Danielis, Book Review

Summary:

Twenty-two year old, Marigold Matthews, can’t wait to return home to Heartland Cove County and get started on all the fabulous plans she’s made during her four long years at college. She’ll take over the family farm, start her own organic edible flower business, and hopefully find a way to help train her do-nothing brother, Ben, providing both of them with a job and an income. Then, she’ll finally marry Walter, her high-school sweetheart and live happily ever after in her picture-perfect paradise.

All her well-laid plans fly out the window when her father informs her he’s going on a surprise European vacation and leaving the farm in Ben’s incompetent hands. To make matters worse Walter can’t understand why she’s upset because, turns out he always thought she’d join him running his family-run hardware store after they were married, something Marigold has no desire to do.

The final straw shows up in the form of Mace Winthrop, an arrogant, competitive, top-of-the-class student Marigold clashed with back in college. Mace has taken a job with a huge farming conglomerate and shows up in Heartland Cove with a mission to snatch up independent farmlands, like hers and transform the beautiful Heartland Cove into a unicrop, moneymaking wasteland.

Marigold has her hands full teaching Ben the ropes, tending her own acres, trying to work things out with Walter and keeping her guard up against the charming and persistent powers of Mace Winthrop. Part of her wants to just run away and reinvent herself somewhere new but Heartland Cove has a hold of her heart that just won’t let go.

My Review:

This is definitely an easy to read book, which I love! I never want to have to try to get into a story or work to finish it. Love's Bloom flows organically and Marigold had more of the personality of a snapdragon at times! She was sweet yet a fireball who would not back down! I really liked the dynamic of Marigold and her brother as well. She had to save his rear end a time or two, and it was definitely true to sibling dynamics. And honestly,  I wasn't sure what to make of Mace, it took me a good portion of the book to understand him and his motives!  This small town farming romance was delightful and I enjoyed Marigold's story from start to finish!

Happy Reading!!!
