Tabitha's Folly, New Release and GIVEAWAY!!!

Book Summary:

Tabitha's Folly is one of Five books all set at the same Regency House Party Series. While each is a standalone story, watch our characters mingle together with others from the books in the series. The stories can be read in any order.

Lady Tabitha Easton recklessly dodges four over-protective brothers while trying to gain attention from the man who holds her heart. She has many choices of suitors, and with Henry as disinterested as ever, she turns to what is wholly forbidden, an irresistibly handsome footman. While their friendship grows, her trust in him increases while her hurt and doubt in her childhood love and friend pushes her away from all she's ever known as family.

When Lord Henry Courtenay discovers a new attraction to his childhood friend, his role as one of her chaperones at the house party becomes near impossible. Irrationally defensive about any potential suitors and seeking time alone with the enticing Tabby, maintaining friendship with her brothers proves more difficult than he ever imagined. His task becomes all the more difficult when she refuses to understand his growing attraction and often finds herself in almost compromising situations.

When Tabitha's choices might lead her to danger, and doubt and distrust are high, Henry must prove himself or lose her forever.

Love Unscripted by Tiffany Odekirk, LDS Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book Summary:

Evie Jennings doesn't believe in happily ever after—it's been a year since moving home to Los Angeles to gather the pieces of her broken heart after her divorce, but she is only going through the motions. That is, until a chance encounter on her college campus brings about an unexpected turn of events: Evie finds herself face-to-face with the heartthrob whose poster decorated the wall of her teenage bedroom. And he's desperate for her help.

Hollywood sensation Ridge Dashly is facing a career crisis—a bad review threatens his A-list status. Desperate to win back the favor of the media and his fans, Ridge reluctantly agrees to enroll in college, never dreaming he'll meet someone who can see past his fame to his true self.

As their paths continue to cross, Evie's seeming disinterest intrigues Ridge, and the pair form a tentative friendship that slowly grows into something more. But when confronted with the unrelenting paparazzi and the nagging shadows of their pasts, will they follow everyone else's script or fight for their own happy ending?

My Review:

I fell in love with Odekirk's storywriting in her first novel, Love on Pointe, so I was beyond excited when I was able to get an advance reading copy of her newest book, Love Unscripted! Finally I got to see Evie's story unfold after the drama and sadness of her failed marriage at the end of Love on Pointe. Evie moved away from BYU and her twin sister Emmy to UCAL, a college close to her home. Odekirk does an amazing job of bringing the reader straight into Evie's world and her maybe-friend (he couldn't possibly be anything more...ever) Ridge Dashly. The banter between the two of them was seamless and you guys, I could not stop reading this book! I pulled an all-nighter, and when you have work in the morning, you know the book was fantastic because this girl is not missing her sleep for anything less than perfection! I loved this book! There were all of the aspects of life; the good, the bad, the ugly...feeling rejected or not good enough. I loved the sense of family that she instilled into the story and the feeling, you guys, there are all the feels in this book! Any LDS romance fan will LOVE this novel. Odekirk is supremely talented and I look forward to more to come from her!

Promises and Primroses by Josi S. Kilpack. Blog Tour & Review

Summary:

Lord Elliott Mayfield aims to correct the very messy marital mistakes and spousal scandals of his brothers and sisters by requiring his nieces and nephews to choose worthy companions.  If they choose wisely, they will receive their generous share of the family’s inheritance.

Peter, Elliott’s eldest nephew, thinks the entire idea is ridiculous. A widower with two young daughters, he simply needs a governess, not a wife. Julia Hollingsworth certainly has the credentials and the experience, but is altogether too young and pretty for such a job. So why can’t he stop thinking about her?

Julia loves working as a governess, despite the objections of her mother, Amelia. And as it turns out, Amelia has a lot to say about the Mayfield men—none of it good. But Julia dismisses the rumors of ruined reputations and instead concentrates on helping Peter with his children and his fledgling business in canine husbandry. His kindness and gentleness is endearing—and increasingly attractive.

But Amelia, whose heart was broken thirty years ago by none other than Elliott Mayfield, is determined to prevent any relationship from blooming either between Peter and Julia—or between herself and Elliott.

My Review:

It took me a couple of chapters for the groundwork to be laid and then I completely fell head first into Julia's story and I had a hard time making myself stop reading (sleep is necessary at points).  Julia was a breath of fresh air! She knew what she wanted for her life and she went after it. But more than that, she had this sweet, kind and beautiful spirit I connected with; almost as if she were real. Peter was the opposite of Julia in many ways and I wondered how the two might ever relate to each other. But I think Peter was hiding a lot of himself behind what was expected of him and his own grief over the loss of his wife. What made this story even better is that there was an entire other story about Peter's uncle Elliot and Julia's own mother! Seriously, this book is pretty awesome in my opinion, so go snag a copy and enjoy!

The Neverland Inn by K.C. Grant, Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book Summary:

Daniel Cavanaugh has it all—a lucrative career as a lawyer, a gorgeous fiancĂ©e, and his future mapped out for him. So why is he feeling increasingly dissatisfied with his life? When the assignment to handle his late grandmother’s estate takes him to the California coast, Daniel welcomes the escape. Staying at the nearby bed-and-breakfast isn’t really his style, but he soon realizes the inn may hold the key to the answers he’s been seeking. Spindrift Cove has few opportunities for a young unmarried woman like Sarah Michaels. Even so, she enjoys her solitude as owner and chef at the Neverland Inn. She thrives on catering to the needs of her guests and treating them to her fantastic cooking. But when Daniel walks through her door, he immediately tests her patience. Though he is handsome and well-bred, she finds him insufferable. Soon, however, the tranquility of the inn works its magic, and Daniel and Sarah forge a sweet and unexpected connection—until the life he left behind in the city demands his return and it seems that a happily ever after may not be on the menu after all.

My Review:

I loved the cover, the back blurb, and just about everything on the outside of this book! It made me want to dive right into the story!  I absolutely could connect, cheer for, and like Sarah.  She was a chef at heart, a lover of animals, and a super positive person!  Enter Daniel; a go through the motions, follow orders, and hey, maybe I should figure out my life person. Opposites generally attract and when he finds himself at The Neverland Inn, I thought it would be pretty simple from there.  But nothing is ever that simple.  I felt like the pace of the story was pretty slow and it took over halfway through the book for me, for the pace to pick up. It is a nice, sweet story and a good read, just a little too slow paced for my preference.

The Shipbuilder's Wife by Jennifer Moore, Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book Summary:

The day of her parents' garden party dawns bright as Lydia Prescott eagerly anticipates a marriage proposal from a handsome and wealthy plantation owner. The lovely debutante plans to steal a moment away with her beau, but her plans go terribly awry. Instead of her intended, she is joined by a stranger the largest man she's ever laid eyes on. And it is clear Jacob Steele is there for reasons far more sober than the party. With British raids erupting all around them, it is his job to reassure plantation owners of their safety. In reality, however, Jacob is an espionage agent, and the truth is dire: America is on the verge of invasion by the British.
Blissfully unaware of the danger surrounding her, Lydia basks in the glow of her recent engagement. But her joy is short-lived—a surprise British attack results in a devastating wound, and her plans for the future are shattered. Lost in her devastation, Lydia could never dream that Jacob, that giant of a man she met so briefly, would prove to be her saving grace. And with a war raging around them, she may be called upon to save him too.

My Review:

I was swept away into Lydia's story and I didn't want to come back! Lydia is a beautiful debutante and has her future mapped out for her, until an unexpected British attack shatters her plans and her own confidence. Enter the handsome Jacob, a man she has only met once before. Together they may be able to help each other through their own issues, and a war raging around them as well. But can they let go and learn to trust each other? A prevailing theme throughout the book is who can you trust? And Moore kept me wondering and guessing the entire time! I loved the historical details but more than that, I enjoyed how Moore portrayed such emotion and feeling throughout the novel. The characters became real and that is the mark of a great book!

Magnolia Summer by Melanie Dickerson, Release Day and Review!!!

Book Summary:

From New York Times Bestselling author Melanie Dickerson comes a story of love, heroism, and secrets so dangerous they could change this sleepy Southern town forever.

Truett’s hometown needed a doctor, so after finishing medical school, he returned to Bethel Springs. Fighting a secret war with a corrupt lawman wasn’t in his plans, but Sheriff Suggs thinks he’s above the law and can lynch anyone who crosses him. When Suggs threatens his childhood friend, Truett dons a cape and hood and rescues him—placing “the Hooded Horseman” in Sheriff Suggs’s crosshairs.

Celia Wilcox arrives in Bethel Springs, Alabama, in June of 1880. She’s come from Nashville to help her sister care for their younger siblings. She hopes only to be on the small farm for the summer, just until her mother recovers from the shock of Celia’s father’s death. She must return to Nashville to fulfill her dream of opening her own dress shop, especially now, to provide for her family.

The lovely Celia catches Truett’s eye, and he finds himself wanting to impress her. But she flatly refuses to flirt with him or to fall for his—if he does say so himself—considerable charm.

Celia’s growing attraction to the young Dr. Beverly terrifies her, and even if she could marry him, which she cannot, what will happen when Sheriff Suggs discovers Truett is the Hooded Horseman? Will Celia be able to prevent the sheriff from carrying out one last lynching?

My Review:

Celia and Truett's story was a breath of fresh southern air! I enjoyed reading a story set in the south and not just reading about the history and the problems, but feeling them and experiencing them along with the characters. Dickerson tells a beautiful story of love, loss, and injustice. Trueuett felt like a Robin Hood, protecting those who could not protect themselves from the horrid and bigoted sheriff. Celia is a beautiful and refined young woman who finds herself thrust into a life she in no way wants for herself. She wants nothing to do with the farm her family lives on, nor the town it resides in. The beautiful part of this story is experiencing the journey along with Celia and Truett. Experiencing the joy, the pain, the fear, the anger, the hurt...there were so many emotions jam packed into this story! It makes you feel...there were times when I thought I might cry. I was  amazed at the realistic and historical details Dickerson seamlessly wove into her story. Magnolia Summer is a wonderful and unique love story you don't want to miss!
