Healing Hearts (Savage Wells #2) by Sarah M. Eden. Blog Tour

Book Summary:

Wyoming Territory, 1876

As the only doctor in the frontier town of Savage Wells, Gideon MacNamara knows his prospects for a bride are limited. The womenfolk in town are either too young, too old, or already spoken for. So, being a practical man, he decides to take advantage of the matchmaking service of the day—mail-order brides—and sends away for a woman with nursing experience.

When Miriam steps off the stagecoach in Savage Wells, she sees a bright future in front of her. But when the town—and Gideon—meets her, ready for a wedding, her excitement quickly turns to horror. Somehow Dr. MacNamara's message had gotten turned around. He didn’t want a nurse, he wanted a wife. When she refuses to marry him, she finds herself stranded in Savage Wells with some very unhappy townspeople.

But Gideon is not like the other men Miriam has met. Embarrassed by the misunderstanding, he offers her a job, and the two begin an awkward—and often humorous—dance of getting to know each other as they work to care for the people of their town. Romance blossoms between the two, but when a former medical associate of Miriam’s arrives in town, Gideon and the other townsfolk must rally around Miriam to protect her from a dangerous fate. Gideon and Miriam must decide if they are willing to risk their hearts for each other even as buried secrets are brought to light.

My Review:

Eden has a way of drawing the reader into a new world and holding them captive until there is literally nothing left to read. I loved this book so much! Immediately I was drawn to Gideon and Miriam, they started off with a huge misunderstanding but both were willing to still work together. I was intrigued to figure out Miriam's secrets she was hiding. And how would everyone else treat her once they figured it out as well? I loved how authentic and real this book felt. I honestly find myself still thinking about this story because it really struck a chord with me. I cannot imagine all that Miriam went through and what life was like back then. The entire asylum aspect is something not usually addressed in historical novels and I found it was done tastefully and in a manner that led me as the reader to feel sympathy and horror at the same time for what people must have endured back then. One does not want to imagine and I applaud Eden for tackling a difficult subject. This book was everything you guys! It kept me up until 1am to finish reading it because I couldn't put it down. I tried ,but I had to know how it ended! I love Savage Wells and how they are not just a community but more like a family. This book is amazing!

Bloodline, by Kathi Oram Peterson, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Book Summary:

France, 1371. The old Queen of France lies on her deathbed with a secret she will take to her grave: there is one true heir to the throne, one who would have the power to ally France and Scotland. But after her death, all that will be left are a few shreds of evidence revealing the stunning identity of her successor.
Flight attendant Skye Armstrong has heard the voice of warning before, and as she’s returning home from London, she recognizes the feeling of dread that accompanies her sixth sense. Walking from the airport terminal to get to her car, she pauses in the middle of the road. Her hesitation gives a Good Samaritan the split second he needs to pull her out of the path of a speeding car, saving her life. But her misfortunes are just beginning. When she arrives home, she discovers that Auntie Marjorie has been kidnapped, and cryptic instructions have been left behind: Skye must retrieve the contents of a safe deposit box and deliver it to the captors . . . No police. Her feelings of dread return.
What Skye discovers in the bank box is baffling: a single page. The ancient document is certainly valuable, and with no time to lose, she goes to the rendezvous to discover the next step. A cell phone rings beneath a park bench. She answers the call, and on the screen is a picture of Auntie, unconscious. Now the kidnapper demands Skye find two more pages or her aunt will die.
What secrets are hidden within the illuminated pages, and who believes they are worth killing for? And what role does the Good Samaritan play in all of it?

My Review:
Well Bloodline literally had me page-turning the entire time! It started out with a bang and the action and suspense never let up. I felt like it was a roller coaster ride! I never knew who Skye could really trust and I was just as confused as she seemed to be about what in the world was going on! I felt my heart-racing and pounding as she tried to find each page and know who to trust. All she wanted to do was save her Aunt, yet I wondered in the back of my mind if she cared just a little bit about the priceless pages she was finding. This book was fantastically put together and I could not stop reading it. I tried! Sleep is a necessity but reading is more important! This is definitely one to read if you are a fan of being kept on your toes and trying to figure out puzzles and mysteries. My one and only complaint, which isn't really a complaint, was the ending. I will not spoil it for you, just suffice it to say that it ended too quickly for me. I wanted more information...more something, why did it have to end?! So I am hopeful that there is a book two on the horizon!

My Review:

Ya'all this book is Ah-Mazing!!!  I started reading it at 8:30pm and I didn't stop until I had finished the very last page. IT. IS. THAT. GOOD.  Seriously, Linton just pulled me into Lizzy's world and she wouldn't let me go! I had to find out what would happen to her and Thomas. How were they going to eat, find shelter, or survive at all? And then enters Barton, cue the swooning now. This gentleman is not only handsome but he is so kind-hearted! I just wanted Lizzy to see how good he was and to trust him. Every time I felt like everything was solved and under control another twist and turn would come into play. I loved this story so much. It is all about loving someone more than yourself; being willing to sacrifice your own happiness for another. Read this book! Go forth and buy it now because this is one regency you will not soon forget!!!

Potion Masters 1 & 2 by Frank L. Cole, Book Review

Book Summary:

Twelve-year-old Gordy Stitser is one of the few people who knows the truth about the secret society of potion masters, because not only is Gordy’s mom on the Board of Ruling Elixirists Worldwide (B.R.E.W.), but she has also been training Gordy in the art of potion-making.

Gordy is a natural, and every day he sneaks down to the basement lab to invent new potions using exotic ingredients like fire ant eggs, porcupine quills, and Bosnian tickling juice.

One afternoon, Gordy receives a mysterious package containing an extremely rare potion known as “The Eternity Elixir.” In the right hands, the Elixir continues to protect society. But in the wrong hands, it could destroy the world as we know it.

Now, sinister potion masters are on the hunt to steal the Eternity Elixir. It’s up to Gordy, his parents, and his best friends, Max and Adeline, to prevent an all-out potion war.

My Review:

Potion Masters is a great book geared for children and middle graders! Honestly anything from about fourth grade on up, depending on their reading level. But kids will love this book! I mean it has this great character named Gordy who is a natural when it comes to potions. What kid doesn't like potions and magic? The book is paced well and the storyline is easy to follow. What kid wouldn't like this book? It has potions, family, villians and friends who set out to save the day!

Book Summary:

It has been nine months since Gordy and his friends, Max and Adilene, Saved B.R.E.W. (the Board of Ruling Elixirists Worldwide) and the Vessel—the power source for the secret society of potion masters. Now, Gordy is starting the eighth grade, and has been trying new potion brewing techniques, but when he starts zoning out during practice, he knows something is wrong.

Gordy and his friends continue to work on their potions, but when Gordy chooses Max as his lab partner, Adilene starts to wonder if she still has a place with her old friends. She turns to a new friend, Cadence, who might know a way to help Adilene become a potion master on her own.

And in Greenland, Mezzarix has a chance to escape his Forbidden Zone—as long as he agrees to work with the mysterious Ms. Bimini and replicate an unusual solution known as “Silt.” It could be just the weapon Mezzarix needs to destroy B.R.E.W. forever.

With both B.R.E.W. and the Vessel in danger, and with the potion world in chaos, it’s up to Gordy, Max, and Adilene to rally the remaining Potion Masters before it’s too late.

My Review:

Gordy and his friends are back again in the next installment of the Potion Masters series! This is the second book in the series and it is recommended that you read the first one to understand everything in the second one. Of course all is not as it should be and there is someone wanting to overthrow and destory B.R.E.W. and this time it is Gordy's own grandpa! Everyone is at risk and it is an exciting ride to go on as Gordy and his friends try to save the day! The Transparency Tonic is a great addition to the series and any middle grade reader would love to read it!

Happy Reading!!!
