Alice Parker's Metamorphosis by Nicola Palmer, Book Review
Blurb from the book:
Feisty thirteen-year-old Alice Parker knows something isn't right. Aches and pains have started, she hardly sleeps and her craving for fruit is out of control. Suddenly she is top of the class in every subject. Feeling at odds with the world and being bullied by the 'coven' at school, Alice can't take much more. Only when she collapses and experiences a life-changing transformation does she learn why she is different. But with this new identity comes responsibility and Alice isn't convinced she can rise to the challenge. She just wants to be normal! The fact is she's anything but.
Forgotten tales of a magical society are catapulted into the daily life of strong, memorable female characters who readers will grow to love. An intriguing blend of realism, suspense and fantasy, a must-read for girls of 7+.
Well, it is no secret that I love a good middle grade book. I may be an adult, but if there is a well written middle grade book around, I am reading it! Alice Parker's Metamorphosis was a pleasant surprise! It was easy to read, well-written and Alice seemed very real. She was just an ordinary girl until one day she transforms and learns that she is not ordinary at all! Alice experienced all the emotions that a young teenage girl would feel and I think that young girls and young girls at heart will really love this book! It is fun, full of surprises, and leaves you feeling good! If you enjoy middle grade fantasy, you will love this book! Five stars and I look forward to reading the others in the series! (I feel it is important to note that this book is completely clean and has nothing inappropriate it in that would make you worry about your child reading it!)
