The Colony by Cami Checketts, Blog Tour & Book Review
Blurb:
To protect her sons from the mistakes of her past, Brinlee Trapper escapes to a secluded mountain home. But there are dangers lurking in the mountains she has never encountered. The little family is saved from injury by Jed, a mysterious hunter. Brinlee is drawn to him, but she worries about his involvement with a peaceful commune hidden deep in the mountains behind her property. Lance, Brinlee's attentive neighbor, has his own troubled history. Between his obvious attraction to Brinlee and his developing love for her children, Brinlee finds it more than difficult to guard her heart against this tender intrusion. While Jed offers a life of excitement and freedom, Lance holds the key to the family Brinlee always wanted. When it comes time to choose, she learns that both men have secrets that could shatter her fledgling trust in men and the wrong decision could leave more than her heart exposed to danger.
My Review:
The Colony starts out with a huge action/suspense scene and grabs the reader's attention right away. Brinlee is such a strong and vibrant character, her love for her boys jumps right out of the pages. Lance is every girl's dream man; patient, kind, honorable and good-looking! Meanwhile, Jed is handsome yet mysterious and seems a bit dangerous. It was so different reading about the colony of free-loving people, a different angle that is a first for me in a book. Some of the characters in this book are from Checkett's novel Poison Me, but it isn't necessary to have read that book (although I recommend it, it's a great read!). I always enjoy a Checketts novel and I can't wait to read whatever she write next!
Thank you for the wonderful review!
