An Unfamiliar Duke (Georgian Gentlemen #4) by Sian Ann Bessey, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Book Summary:

At eleven years of age, Rosalind Ainsworth was convinced that Sebastian Lumley, the future Duke of Kelbrook, was the most odious young man she’d ever met. And ten years later, after having had no contact with the nobleman in the intervening time, her opinion of him has not changed. Unfortunately, neither has the marriage contract their fathers signed soon after her birth.

As Rosalind’s twenty-first birthday and the appointed wedding day approaches, Sebastian makes a rare appearance in London. His first meeting with Rosalind since childhood goes less than perfectly, but Sebastian has a compelling reason for honoring their marriage contract—a reason outlined in a document kept behind his workshop’s locked door.

After a quick wedding, the new couple relocates to Finley Park, where their acquaintanceship slowly blossoms into affection. But when Sebastian’s secretive work threatens their fledgling relationship and Rosalind’s life is placed in jeopardy, Sebastian finds himself forced to choose between the man he has pledged to help and the woman he has come to love.

My Review:

Every time I pick up a book by Bessey I know I am going to be transported to a completely different world. She easily brings the reader into the characters’ lives and makes them feel like a part of their world. Her books are the ones you cannot put down and you lose sleep for. I caution you against starting this book at night because you will be up all night reading it!

Historical romantic fiction? Yes, please! I loved this slow build romance by Bessey. The characters were endearing and I loved this arranged marriage trope. Can you fall in love with your spouse? Rosalind was such a strong character. I loved her determination, her courage, and her love of numbers. Every character should have a quirk since we all have quirks. This made Rosalind more relatable to me. Sebastian won my heart over pretty quickly. His inattentiveness due to his not normally having to worry about anyone but himself rang so true. It felt real and genuine. His desire to be better was heartwarming. I loved how they each began to grow, change, and think of the other person. This slow build historical romance has all the marks of an award winning book; engaging characters, historically accurate details, action/suspense, and swoonworthy kisses! If you want a book you will love and become lost in, then An Unfamiliar Duke is the book for you!
