The Gentleman’s Miscalculation (The Lockwood Family #3), Book Review
Book Summary:
The person he despised most could turn out to be his greatest chance at love.
Lord Winston Lockwood is haunted by his past and bound by social expectations. He remains at Brockhall Manor to ensure his aunt and her son remain safe from her abusive husband. Adding to his frustration, Miss Bawden’s constant presence threatens to drive him mad.
Amid the upheaval of her father’s newfound title, Miss Mattie Bawden is struggling to help her cousin cope with the tragic loss of her parents. Desperate for assistance, she turns to the last person she would ever expect: the insufferable Lord Winston.
As they call a truce, they soon realize how indubitably well-suited they are as friends. But when a dire threat looms, bringing danger to their very doorsteps, Winston understands he must confront his own feelings and risk revealing his true emotions, or he could lose the woman he has come to realize he cannot live without.
My Review:
Mattie and Winston’s story is a must read for fans of sweet regency romance! I loved the enemies to lovers genre and the constant banter between the two of them. Winston wasn’t a perfect main character, he had a journey of healing to go through and that made him more relatable. Mattie seemed to be a practical saint for living with her sister Emma. I am not sure how Emma could be so awful all of the time and Mattie still stayed positive and kind. She was a person to look up to. Her quote is one of my favorites from the book, “Sometimes, people need kindness more than they need the truth,” Isn’t that the truth? The Gentleman’s Miscalculation by Laura Beers is a delightful story that will have you saying, “Just one more chapter.” I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
