Deadly by Design by Paige Edwards, Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book Summary:

For up-and-coming Formula One engineer, Jack Pressley-Coombes, there is nothing better than the smell of rubber and the roar of a racecar engine. When he witnesses a crash at the first international grand prix of the season, Jack makes a shocking discovery. His design is on a competitor’s car.

To keep Davis Racing LTD, his British Formula One employer from closing its doors, Jack goes undercover for MI6 to ferret out the company saboteur. When the investigation interferes with his and Gillian Buchanan’s blossoming romance, Jack can’t extricate himself from the web of deceit. But he’s not the only one with something to hide. Gillian too carries secrets. With time running out for Davis Racing, the evil which walks its corporate halls turns in Jack’s direction and threatens all that he holds dear.

My Review:

I love a good suspense story and Edwards did a fantastic job with this one! Immediately the action began on page one and didn’t let up until the very end. For me the mark of a good suspense means I am in suspense the majority of the time, and I was! I loved the characters from Jack to Gillian, all the way down to Elise and Thierry. The connection between Jack and Gillian was real and undeniable. Edwards succeeded in not only a great suspense novel but also a great romance and heart felt emotional story. There are so many layers to Deadly by Design and I enjoyed every moment of them! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Noble Smuggler by Sian Ann Bessey, Blog Tour & Giveaway!!!

Book  Summary:

Despite living at her father’s inn her entire life, Elizabeth Doyle has always managed to avoid involvement with the smugglers who frequently gather there. Until now. When a handsome smuggler is brought to her with dire injuries, Elizabeth risks everything to hide him—completely unaware that the wounded man is not who he appears to be.

When an opportunity arises to infiltrate the notorious smuggling gang he believes caused his father’s death, Jonas Ainsworth, the Viscount Langton, pretends to be one of them. But when he is wounded midcharade, Jonas’s life is placed in the hands of an unlikely savior: a smuggler’s daughter. Forced to flee before his wounds have fully healed, he does not think he will ever see her again—until she appears on his doorstep, seeking safe haven. Divided by their social standings yet united in their mutual desire to expose the leader of the smuggling ring, Jonas and Elizabeth are undeniably drawn to each other. Neither realizes, however, that they are dangerously close to uncovering explosive secrets from the past—secrets that will alter the course of their lives forever.

My Review:

Bessey has created a well-written captivating story that I could not put down! Elizabeth is a strong, courageous, and beautiful soul who is resilient, kind, and the type of person one would aspire to be like. From the very beginning when we meet her and Jonas I was so curious as to how their paths would cross and where their story would go. Bessey flawlessly tells not only Elizabeth's story, but Jonas' as well, all while building this world that became so real to me I never wanted to leave. The Duchess of Kelbrook and Lady Langton were just as bright and vibrant as well. Every character is memorable in my mind and brought the story to life! From the dangers of Little Tilbury to the mutual attraction between Elizabeth and Jonas, The Noble Smuggler has elements of love, compassion, danger, heart break, anger, justice, and surprise! There is so much more to this story than meets the eye. Bessey always has something up her sleeve that I never see coming and that is what keeps me coming back for more!

Steal My Heart (A Prosperity Ranch Novel) by Heather B. Moore, Book Review

Book Summary:

She’s ready to leave Prosper behind, forever. So why did she have to meet him, of all times, and at all places? That was never the plan.

USA Today bestselling author Heather B. Moore welcomes you to Prosperity Ranch!

Disaster seems to follow Evie Prosper’s dating life everywhere. A fresh start can only mean leaving Prosper forever, which is what she’s determined to do, until she meets Carson Hunt. He unknowingly saves her from another dating disaster, yet their paths keep crossing. Carson is relocating to Prosper of all places, and if Evie could change that one thing about him, she might rethink their connection.

My Review:

I love how Moore has taken us back to the small town of Prosper and the Prosper family. I loved Holt's story in One Summer Day and now Evie gets her turn. (You can read this as a stand alone if you want) Moore makes Evie's story easy to read and relate to, a young woman on her own, but still unsure of herself and wanting to please her family. Carson is a dream man and such a gentleman! It was endearing how he called Evie "sweetness" and treated her like a queen.  There are backgrounds to both Evie and Carson that we got to unfold piece by piece and I felt like I was there along with them as they learned about each other. I truly love the Prosper family and all of their love for each other, personalities and flaws. I look forward to more to come from Moore and hope that Knox, Lane, and Cara get their own stories too!

Crosscheck (Northbrook Hockey Elite Book 4) by Rebecca Connolly, Book Review

Book Review:

He’s a hard hitter, she’s a straight shooter. Can they stop the sparks from flying? Do they want to?

Zane Winchester is a beast on the ice, known for racking up penalties and delivering hard blows. No one would suspect the complicated nature of his personal life, or just what it entailed. And no one, not even him, would have suspected what one unexpected encounter with a remarkable woman would do to his life.

Mara Matthews is a regular woman with a regular job and a regular life. Then she meets the father of one of her little students, and regular becomes the last word to describe her life. Zane is intense, funny, charming, and drop dead gorgeous; he shouldn’t pay any attention to someone like her. But Zane isn’t giving up, and Mara doesn’t want him to.

Welcome to Northbrook Hockey Elite!

Six professional hockey players used to play on an elite club team together, but have all separated and now play in the pro-hockey leagues. Not all of them were friends, yet circumstances bring them together, and for the greater good, maybe they can put aside their differences.

My Review:

I have been waiting for Zane's story, I have been wanting to know his background from what made him tick to his little girl Hope. There was a mystery there that I wanted to figure out. Crosscheck answered all of those questions and took us inside Zane's heart and mind. It was effortless and easy to read, just the pick me up I was looking for! From the hockey, romance, The Pit, and Hope this book had it all. Excitement on the ice, Zane's hard-hitting penalties, romance with Mara, and the bakery Mara's parents own. And that cinnamon roll baking scene, the heat was palpable (I may have swooned)! I love the Northbrook Elite Series and Crosscheck is another fantastic installment! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Note of Change (Timeless Victorian Collection #5) by Esther Hatch, Nichole Van, & Annette Lyon, Book Review

Book Review:

Can a single note can change a life, start a romance, or drive two people apart?

Waiting for the Post by Esther Hatch
Now that Harrison Chase has finally made his fortune as a working man, he will risk it all to save his factory workers from starvation. In the middle of his charge to reverse the Corn Laws, his housekeeper helpfully mails a letter she finds languishing amongst his things. A six-year-old love letter. With no other choice, he rushes back to his childhood home on Christine Stone’s estate. If he can’t get his hands on that letter before she does, Christine will discover what a pitiful and pretentious fool he had been. The one thing he hadn’t counted on was the mail being delayed. Now Harrison must decide which is worse—waiting with Christine as he not-so-slowly falls back in love with her, or leaving, knowing once she reads his letter he can never return.

A Ring of Gold by Nichole Van
Viola Brodure longs for something more from her life. So when that something more arrives in the form of a letter from the renowned Highland Poet, Ethan Penn-Leith, she seizes her chance. After all, Mr. Penn-Leith merits every swoon-worthy adjective Viola can muster. What woman wouldn’t want to be in her shoes? But after journeying to Scotland and meeting the poet himself, Viola faces a difficult question: What happens if you don’t want the thing you thought you did?

A Rose by Any Other Name by Annette Lyon
As an orphan whose only home has been the Foundling Hospital, Rose is tasked to work in the fine houses of Bloomsbury. She knows her duty—take care of the family upstairs and never forget her place. But her traitorous heart won’t follow the rules, and she falls in love with Oliver Withey, a man far above her station. Though she feels like she’s found a home in Oliver’s arms, his mother has other plans for her oldest son—and marrying a servant isn’t one of them. She’ll do anything to keep Rose and Oliver apart, including making a devil’s bargain that ensures they’ll never see each other again. When a mysterious old woman appears, she seems to have answers to Rose’s past. Could those long-held secrets hold the key to the future with Oliver that Rose longs for?

A NOTE OF CHANGE

My Review:

The cover of this Timeless Collection is amazing and beautiful, I wanted to read it just from the cover art! This collection is easy to read, especially if you like a quick read. Waiting for the Post by Hatch was a great story about how one letter can change your entire world! I loved the relationship between Harrison and Christine, I could feel the chemistry and hesitancy between them. Each one so unsure of the other. The otter scene was one of my favorite by far and still makes me laugh! A Ring of Gold took me to the Scottish highlands and I was blown away by the beauty Van described and the love story of Viola. I loved it and I loved her as a character! A Rose by Any Other Name by Lyon was not your typical love story! I wondered if Rose and Oliver would ever be able to be together. I could not stand the horrid and awful Miss Holdaway! I don't know if I have ever disliked a character so much! The mystery in this novella was a fantastic addition and made the story even more dynamic.  I loved this collection and highly recommend it to romance and victorian era readers!

His Lady in Hiding by Jen Geigle Johnson, Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Book Summary:

Lady Elizabeth Davenport is desperate. Her hand in marriage has been offered to the highest bidder, a distressing proposition in and of itself but made all the more repulsive when she meets her father’s first choice for her hand: Lord Pinweather. When her parents refuse to hear her pleas, Liz is forced to take drastic measures—she will impersonate her maid and begin anew in America on her own terms.

Once on board the ship to America, another passenger, Lord Barton, almost immediately discovers her true status as a noble. After listening to Liz’s highly modified version of her life and her plans to begin again, Barton has compassion on her and teaches her how to abandon her noble mannerisms. Upon disembarking, however, Barton’s generous spirit quickly dampens when he discovers Liz has indeed found work—as his own head housekeeper. Suddenly, the tender feelings they hid from each other on the ship are inescapable, but their difference in station makes romance impossible. As misunderstandings abound and a shocking character from Liz’s past looms, she knows she can’t hide her true identity forever. But as her deception begins to unravel, will her charade cost her the man she loves?

My Review:

This story was masterfully told by Johnson and my favorite I have read by her! Lady Elizabeth is a force to be reckoned with and her courage and spirit made this book unforgettable! I loved her pluck in defying her father's wishes and going into disguise as a housekeeper. She sails across the ocean by herself in steerage and during her journey meets Lord Barton. With a twist of fate she ends up employed as his housekeeper! Nothing would get her down or stop her and what I loved most about this story is that Johnson did not just write a typical regency story. She kept me guessing and wondering while weaving in elements of freeing slaves and women's rights. This book rocks and I hope you pick up a copy and read it! It is worth every minute of your time!

Lakeshire Park (Proper Romance) by Megan Walker, Blog Tour & Review

Advanced Praise:

“Charming, beautifully written, and hopelessly romantic. Sure to be a new favorite.”
- Julianne Donaldson, best-selling author of Edenbrooke

“This gentle love story is a treat.”
-Publishers Weekly

“Walker effortlessly amplifies the decorum of Regency England with chic wit and delightful characters who will stop at nothing to reach their nuptial goals.”
-Booklist

Book Summary:

Brighton, England 1820

Amelia Moore wants only one thing—to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather’s looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own—without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.

Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter—and eventually playing by his rules—makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.

My Review:

Walker's Lakeshire Park takes your attention, pulls it into Amelia's world, and does not let you go until you read the very last page. I got so lost and caught up in Lakeshire Park that it transported me from my life into an entirely different world. Amelia's world. It all played out so seamlessly that I could see it in my mind like a movie on the big screen. The witty banter between Amelia and Peter, the shy and budding romance of Clara with Sir Ronald. Georgianna and her own desires, Mr. Rawles...Lady Demsworth; every character made a lasting impression and was critical to the beauty of the story as it unfolded. I could not read it quickly enough and now that it is over, I am left wanting more. Will Walker favor us with a story of another character? I hope it will be so! If you love a true proper romance with emotional upheaval, difficult decisions, and characters you will love, then Lakeshire Park is the book for you!
