Pursuit of Perfection (Roselund Heights #4) by Miranda Nelson, Book Review

Book Summary;

Her attempts at perfection fall short. He cannot settle for anything less.

Lady Francine Brightmore is acutely aware that she does not measure up to expectations. A daughter of an earl ought to be graceful, well-spoken and demure. However, try as she might, Fanny is none of these things. With a duke and dowager duchess coming to stay, the expectations placed on her have never been higher. Fanny fears her only hope may be to avoid their company altogether.

Between tending to his mother’s health and his plans to fulfill a lifelong endeavor, Nicholas Thynne, Duke of Cravenhurst, has enough on his mind when he visits Roselund Heights. And yet he must also persist in his efforts to find a new bride. However, finding someone to fill the role of duchess will not be an easy task. Not any eligible woman will do, as Nicholas has been raised to expect nothing less than perfection.

When two secrets bring Fanny and Nicholas closer together, they find in each other an unexpected friend. Despite their growing attraction, the demands for perfection prove powerful. Will either be able to lay aside expectations and have the courage to risk their hearts?

My Review:

Nelson pulls you directly into Fanny's world and does not let you go until the very last page! I love the strangers/friends/lovers trope and how Nicholas and Fanny met was so memorable. Franny's friends were true "ride or die" friends and it was wonderful how they loved her for who she was without trying to change her. The family drama for Franny made my heart literally ache. How can family be so cruel? Nelson flawlessly writes about so many different emotions and scenarios in one single story. I was pulled right into Franny's world and I didn't want to leave. The reader becomes her biggest cheerleader, wanting her to succeed. Nicholas is probably one of the sweetest characters I have read in a long time. His loving attention to Fanny's needs, his desire to truly be her friend, all of it made my heart melt. Every time he told her, "I have you" I swooned a little. Who doesn't want a man who has you? Who will take care of you and help you? If you love regency, then Pursuit of Perfection needs to be your next book purchase! (Pursuit of Perfection reads perfectly as a standalone, especially since I have not read any of the other books in the series.) I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Reading!!!
